Already six weeks ago, we reported the upcoming beta test for the Huawei Ascend G7 and the desired firmware update to Android 5.1.1 lollipop with EMUI 3.1.
Unfortunately it was meant for beta test for Italy and even though we have seen that some of our readers there were registered, so there were so far unfortunately no positive feedback or even a leak of the beta firmware. Instead there but everywhere great demand for just this firmware update to Android 5.1.1 lollipop; especially as the Huawei G7 enjoyed after his performance at last year’s IFA of great popularity and got spendiertt this year with the Huawei G8 also equal to a successor.
Thanks to our reader Steven we can give today you what many want. No, unfortunately still not the final lollipop firmware, but at least the beta firmware.
The update has the imposing size of 1,18GB. Nevertheless it’s firmware, so a partial update according to our information to an OTA and thus not a full firmware. We can not make unfortunately a 100% verification due to lack of Huawei G7. Because the update process but basically is the same, it shouldn’t matter for all willing testers, however.
You just download the firmware and copied it to the folder “dload” on your memory. After recent attempts it now no longer matters, whether the update from the internal memory or the SD card is made. Until recently an update here just on the SD card was possible, it has obviously changed this.
Should the “dload” folder does not exist, you can simply place it in the top directory – so not in a subfolder of another – and there copy the downloaded “update.zip”.
Then you start the application “Update tool” on your G7 and selects the point of “Local update” there in the menu. Now, you just follow the instructions on the display.
The G7 restarts for the update in the recovery and an automatic restart in the system takes place after successful update. During the update process you should bring some patience.
Due to lack of an appropriate G7, we could test this firmware so far not for you! Also, error may contain beta firmwares, which can ensure that the device is not everyday use or individual applications don’t run maybe even at all.
You this beta firmware please only installed if you are aware and want to actively test the firmware!
All testers we wish much fun with lollipop and hoping for plenty of feedback!
